Can
I use your OnScreen keyboard with the Spell-A-Word program?
OnScreen
is an on-the-screen keyboard for half the price of Discover:Screen. It
has Word Complete not word prediction.
----------------------
How much memory does your program take?
200K
or so, hardly anything.
---------------
Why won't OnScreen type into my word processing document?
You
may be trying to type into a word processing document when the window is
not
activated.
Click on the top horizontal bar which contains the document so that it
is active. OnScreen also has a SELECT button which turns on, or activates,
the document which it types to.
----------------------
Do you have to run the installation every time that you use the onscreen keyboard? If not, how do you access it from the MAC computer?
No.
On a MAC, if OnScreen 'disappears', simply use the OnScreen pulldown
menu from the menu bar
(the
little triangle in a gray square, near the Finder/Switch Application icon
at upper right in
menu
bar.
Pull
down to LaunchKbd, and use that LaunchKbd button to 'restore' OnScreen,
and use the special
OnScreen
close button, third down on the left, to 'minimize' OnScreen.
----------------
How do you activate the keys so that they will actually type a letter in your word processing program? I am using a MAC computer with a regular mouse.
That
is the entire *purpose* of OnScreen. Just pull up an text document
and start typing with OnScreen.
----------------
Is it possible to make the On Screen keyboard any bigger?
You've reviewed the 4 Layouts? (from Setup, one of the buttons on any of the OnScreens)
Yes,
you can make things bigger, but not simply by stretching. It's a
process that would take
someone
about 1 hour, not hard, but a process. In fact, you can customize
it to your heart's
content,
everything about it.
--------------
Are you aware of anybody using this software with a RAT mouse emulator?
No,
we're not.
--------------
Are there any conflicts with other software applications that you are aware of?
Not
currently.
-------------------
Can you make the OnScreen keys farther apart and re-size them?
OnScreen for Windows, no, but you do have a variety of sizes to choose from.
OnScreen
for Mac, there are several Layouts accessible from the Setup
button
on any of the OnScreen keyboards. Hopefully, one of those should
work.
If not, let us know.
----------------
Can you make word bank keys instead of letters? Meaning, can you have a key be a word or phrase instead of just the letters?
That's
what the WordComplete component is for. But are you asking about
typing
a <d> and having OnScreen generate a phrase like <drink of
water>?
That would be Abbreviation/Expansion, and we don't do that (not for $99,
at least ;-).
-----------------
If your on screen keyboard has word prediction based on use, is there any reason to buy WiViK instead of yours?
Let's
see...our's is $99, their's is...how much?? Well, they do word *prediction*,
where more than
just
the word you are on gets predicted. We do word *completion*, with
just the current word
getting
predicted. But we have quite a few other features that they don't,
and vice versa
probably.
Best thing is simply to download demos of both products and try them.
-----------------
Is there an RJCooper OnScreen keyboard for the Mac system 8.1 or system 7.5.3?
Our
OnScreen works with all Mac OS except for OS-X.
---------------
I know you guys have different keyboard layouts, but I need one with bigger buttons (1" by 1"), esp. for the word complete windows. Is this possible? (I am using the Mac version).
Anything is possible ;-)
You can actually change this yourself. Just open the OneClick Editor, from the pull-down triangle menu next to the 'switch-applicatiion' icon at the upper right in menu bar. Then click on the Palette tab. Choose OnScreen from the pull-down menu right underneath the 'tabs. Then move OnScreen to the far left of your screen. Then drag the bottom right corner to your desired size. Then click on the Button tab in the Editor. Click on a button and drag its 'handle' to your desired size. Click anywhere on the button to drag it. Then click on the font size pulldown menu next to the font name in the editor, and select your desired size.
Be careful not to Change Layout in Setup after you make changes.
You must save your palette. Click on the Palette tab, then at bottom right, click on New(?) Palette popup menu, and select Export Palette. Navigate to <System Folder|Preferences|OneClick Folder|OnScreens> and save it there with your desired name.
Now
when you cycle through your Change Layouts, it will be one of them.
--------------
Will the the "On Screen" program will work in conjunction with the "Magic Touch Screen"?
Yes,
but we don't recommend using the touchscreen for small buttons.
Touchscreens
work best with large buttons. The buttons in OnScreen will
be
difficult to accurately operate.
---------------
Do you have any kind of limited warrantee, or trial period for your devices?
We
offer a 30 day moneyback.
---------------
Can I use your OnScreen keyboard with the Spell-A-Word program?
Yes
you can. You need to first change your Display Settings to 640 X 480 resolution
with 16bit color. Run OnScreen and go into the SetUp area and turn off
Auto Arrange. Now run Spell-A-Word. You should see both OnScreen keyboard
and Spell-A-Word program. Once you are in the drill or test part of Spell-A-Word,
you will notice that the pointing cursor can disappear at times. Move your
mouse around until you see the cursor over the OnScreen keyboard. If you
leave the cursor in the keyboard area it will stay visible.

How do I install and register CrossScanner and OnScreen, while *using* both?
Please try it completely by yourself, with your student there, first.
1)
Download OnScreen and install.
2)
Download CrossScanner and install. Use your current
CrossScanner
to operate the installer. It will ask if you are using
CrossScanner,
and you can CrossScan to the Yes button. The installer
will
shut the old CrossScanner down, and immediately launch the new
CrossScanner
and the installer will click on the Continue Without
Registering
button by itself.
So
now both CrossScanner and OnScreen are operating in
the
'evaluation' mode and will run for 14 days.
To
Register OnScreen:
1)
Using CrossScanner, select the text icon so that OnScreen is on-screen.
2)
CrossScan to the Continue Without Registering
button.
3)
CrossScan to the OnScreen shortcut on your desktop.
This
will launch the Registration dialog to register OnScreen.
4)
Use OnScreen to type into each field of the
Registration
dialog. Sample - 8867-g01-15-ow-22 (the 6th character is a zero)
5) Use CrossScanner to click on OK.
To
Register CrossScanner:
1)
Using CrossScanner, select the text icon so that
OnScreen
is on-screen.
2)
CrossScan to the CrossScanner shortcut on your
desktop.
This will launch the Registration dialog to register
CrossScanner.
4)
Use OnScreen to type into each field of the
Registration
dialog.
5) Use CrossScanner to click on OK.
I am having trouble running an old version of Joystick to Mouse with your latest version of OnScreen.
Go
to the OnScreen SetUp and click on "User Options". Select "Advanced"
and click on "Operation Options". Now, place a check mark next to
"Alternate Virtual Interface". Select "Ok" and "Ok". This will
correct the situation.
